The projects and pieces you see here were cut in shops around Phnom Penh using a technology known as laser cutting. Laser cutting uses a laser to cut materials, and is typically used for industrial manufacturing applications, but is also used by schools and small businesses. In Cambodia it is often used to cut letters for signs about shops and businesses. Laser cutting begins with a 2-D line drawing and works by directing the output of a high-power laser, by computer, at the material to be cut.
